2025 promises to be a summer of fun! As relative newcomers, we want to experience all the fantastic “regular” attractions and activities on offer in and around Stonehaven, but we're particularly excited about the festivals and events taking place over the next few months. We’ll continue to do what we can to promote each of them on our various social channels but wanted start by highlighting three multi-day events that promise to be extra-special:

Midsummer Beer Happening 12th - 14th June 2025

An annual festival celebrating the best of craft beer, live music and gourmet street food that attracts thousands of visitors. This year, it’ll be held over three days in a purpose-built marquee in Baird Park, Stonehaven.

The event began in November 2009 as the Stonehaven Real Ale Festival, organized by friends seeking to create a beer festival that combined quality brews with food and live music - a novel concept at the time. In 2015, it evolved into the Midsummer Beer Happening, moving to a larger venue to accommodate its growing popularity.

Key features of the festival include:

  • Over 150 Beers and Ciders from some of the UK's finest brewers

  • A variety of local talent providing Live Music to keep you entertained

  • Some of the finest local Artisan Street Food vendors offering a delectable array of food

  • A Cycle Sportive with routes of 52, 70 and 100 miles, all traversing the formidable Cairn o’ Mount.

The annual festival is a vibrant celebration of Scotland's rich folk music heritage set against the stunning backdrop of Stonehaven's coastal beauty, offering the chance for visitors to embark on a musical journey that brings the soul of traditional and contemporary folk music to life. 2025 marks the 35th edition of the festival.

The festival’s mission is to promote and encourage the study, practice and knowledge of the arts, especially folk music, through a variety of events and educational projects. The festival will showcase a mix of local and international folk artists, featuring evening concerts at the Town Hall, workshops, informal sessions, the World Paper’n’Comb Championships and the unique Aqua Ceilidh at the open-air swimming pool.
